Wink How to prepare for IELTS?

I know that there are quite a few different sections such as Reading, Writing, Listening. How can I score maximum in all these sections.

Should I opt for coaching institute or is it sufficient to study at home?

Default RE: How to prepare for IELTS?

Chichoo,

This is a common question we face from the students trying to take any test be it GRE, TOEFL, IELTS or any other. There is no right or wrong answer to this. It fairly depends on the person and his/her learning style. For eg I am more comfortable when a teacher takes me thru a lesson, while my brother is comfortable reading on his own. The end game is that both of us end up learning it.

Having said that, for an exam where you are competing against a big number of students, it makes sense to be able to gauge your standing before you even get to the examination center. In that sense, going thru a coaching institute helps. In case if you are enrolled with the one that has more branches all across, you get to understand your position on a general basis.

It always helps to know about yourself. If you were to take the test on your own, a high or low score has the potential to swing your mood and motivation to the wrong direction because it is not put into perspective. So, consider a scenario where you scored high marks, but then almost 99% students scored high on that... well, despite being a great score that should not make you feel that you did an awesome job with the preparation. Becasuse, if you did, you would be wrong and might end up being overconfident.

To summarize, I'd say that self study and public test is the ideal combination. Try to get that and you will not regret.

Best of luck!
